Silica or Quartz, also known as Silicon dioxide, is a chemical compound that is an oxide of silicon with the chemical formula SiO2. Silica is one of the most useful natural minerals. Its usefulness can be linked to its physical properties. It has a hardness of seven on the MohsScale which makes it very durable. It is chemically inert in contact with most substances. It has electrical properties and heat resistance that make it valuable in electronic products. Its luster, color and diaphaneity make it useful in the making of glass.
Applications of Silica
- In ceramics for reducing shrinkage during drying, strengthening the body while providing an exit for evolved gases and for decreasing thermal expansion.
- In glass-making, where it provides a uniform melt with lower energy requirement, reducing incidence of foaming or formation of bath scum.
- In paint & coatings for improved resistance and chemical durability.
Indomin’s strength in Silica
Indomin’s strength in Silica comes from owning and operating our unique mining reserves which are true repositories of the purest deposits. We have more than 30 years of experience in mining and processing of Silica and today we are one of the leading miners and producers of Silica.
Processing Technology
Although our deposits have high purity Silica, Indomin uses unique beneficiation systems to beneficiate the crude ore, in order to ensure consistent purity and to deliver tailor made grades as per industry specifications.
Our proprietary processing technology and automated process control systems ensures consistency in quality & product delivery.A dedicated research team is constantly finding ways to optimize production costs for new product launches.
